Lightning

Because of Mr. Laramie's blatant refusal to my request earler, I decided to undertake some research of my own. What I found seemed largely underwhelming.

Through word of mouth, rumour had proposed that in the 1970's and 80's there were experiments carried out in the fields outside of Brightmount. These were tests to conduct lightning for purposes of demonstrating the capabilities of different designs of lightning rods. One particular type, what they referred to as the dissapator, was meant to scatter lightning rather than absorb and ground it. The result was an event that caused the facility to burn to the ground. The people I spoke to seemed largely convinced that this happened, and even said that the records of the experiments can be found in the public access of the town archive in the library.

Initially, I was unsure as to what relation this had to the Seed Eater, until someone pointed out to me that, "the kids are taken after the lightning strikes. Always." This made me reconsider much of what I knew about the Seed Eater. I believe that we've finally detected a pattern. The lightning is a harbinger of sorts. It doesn't happen every thunderstorm, but when it does happen, it comes after the lightning.

Also, we must consider the "black cloud" described. It is my belief that it disguises itself in the storm - using it as a type of camouflage. The Seed Eater appears during or after a storm, maybe hoping that it goes unnoticed, and it quietly takes someone.

Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions...

Returning to The Grove

I went back to The Grove today. Earlier, I spoke with the mother of the victim. She reported the following story:

The mother, a resident across the street from the park, was seated on a nearby bench, watching her son at the playground around 9:30 pm on the 31st of May. She returned to the house, mere metres away, for reasons she did not disclose. When she returned, her son was gone.

She recalled something she described as a "big black cloud" that swept away, unnaturally over top of the trees. "It kind of turned on itself and disappeared with a little flash of red light" she said, "there was a loud sound like thunder and then it was gone."

When I visited the park today, it was empty. Nobody has been in or out of the park in the past few days, except the maintenance worker, who has tried trimming the grass. But I hear no news about this occurrence. The mother is the only one who testifies about it, and she told me personally. I am unaware who else knows.

Unlike what one might expect for something typically considered a "crime-scene", there was no blood. There were no footsteps leading off into the trees, nor any markings or damage to the equipment.

There is a cluster of trees beyond the swingset. I assume this is where the cloud sighting occurred. I am, as of yet, unaware of any connections to this cloud that the mother is describing. Then again, this could be unrelated to the Seed Eater entirely. However, judging on the lack of investigation, the sudden silence on the matter, and the suspicious details of the disappearance, I think my assumption is a safe guess.

The Grove is near the edge of the town, bordering near the train tracks and the road out. The woodland area nearby goes on for quite a distance. The Seed Eater could be anywhere.

From Unknown

This came from a user named "yerregfg", whose account apparently does not exist.

"I remember when once, when I was around five years old, my parents took me to a picnic in the forest. Halfway through the picnic, I remember I wandered off to see something in the woods. I went up to it and said "Hello, what's your name?". It smelled kind of weird. It didn't answer at all. I poked it with my fingers and when I did, it would always just turn it's head really fast and look at me, then slowly turn it's head back to my parents. I was too scared to touch it after that. I still think it was incredibly strange that my parents didn't notice me gone for almost an hour. My parents finally started packing everything up, and I told it "Sorry, I have to go now". It didn't respond, just kept staring at my parents. I remember feeling a strange attachment to it, not wanting to leave it. When they started calling my name, I finally just walked up to them and left. I still remember drawing around three or four pictures of it and putting them in my closet. I felt so sad that I wasn't close to it. It came to me in my dreams though, sometimes. It was recurring. I saw it. I don't know where I was. I was in the fabric of dreaming, a blank canvas. Everything was purple and pink and wavering and mixing together but only out of the corner of my eye. I feel so scared right now as i'm typing this. Just, a really big weight of fear at the bottom of my stomach. Not paranoia or dread. Just fear. I don't want to talk about it any more. I'm so scared right now. I have to leave oh god im so scared

Alright then i just got my camera and went aroudn my house and took a video. it made me feel better. i am now seeing a flicker of a pale shadow on the carpet out of the corner of my eye. i think it is a censor. i feel very scared when i type this. it is trying to get me to stop typing this but i wont and it flickers again and again as i try to quell it. i say in my mind that it will go away and it flickers.i don't feel scared now. there is no more flickering. now i feel dread. i feel what i can only describe as the calm before the storm. a feeling grim acceptance and compromise mixed with dread. i feel weird. i want to throw up but i have no nausea. i feel so sad. there is a lump in my throat and i want to cry and throw up at the same time. i'm gagging right now. i think i have hunger pains. it's like when you do't eat anything for a while and then you feel sick. i keep looking back at my window. i don't know why. i don't really want to do anything right now. i just want to lay down and sleep for a long time. a very long time. this is all real and that is what makes it so unbearable. the picnic was real the man was REAL NAD HE HAS A LONG WHITE FACE AND ONE EYE STITCHED SHUT i fee lso scared again i want to leave oh god im leaving "

From Sarah (possibly related) - Redux

The friend of mine mentioned earlier has found another entry from Sarah on MyLifeIsCreepy.com

"Last night was the same as every night for the last week. That ragfaced man had his face pressed against my window while I was sleeping. Dad's a paranoid freak who set up security cameras in our yard, after that burglar last year. I checked through the tapes, but nothing's ever there, only the camera pointing directly at my window while I'm sleeping. Fifty hours of me, naked in bed, all on tape..."

Again, only POSSIBLY related.

From Sarah (possibly related)

A friend of mine (who wishes to remain unnamed) scavenged this from the website MyLifeIsCreepy.Com

"Today, during my walk home from school, I saw that stupid thing again staring at me from the edge of the forest. It has that raggy anteater bird mask and the nasty hair and it smells like decaying roadkill. Nobody else believes me when I tell them that this rag thing keeps following me through the day, not even my mom. It's been going on for the past week now. MLIC"

Please note that this is only POSSIBLY related.
